Collecting personal information

IDT collects personal information from you when you register your details, when you purchase IDT services and products and when you enter any promotions or competitions run by us. We protect the privacy of this information using our secure servers. The information you provide will be kept confidential and used to support our relationship with you as a customer. You may also be asked whether you would like to participate in surveys about IDT to help us improve our service. Whether you participate in these surveys or not will be up to you.

Purpose of collecting information

If you are an IDT registered customer, we may use your personal information for the purposes of: (a) allowing you to make certain payments using our products and services  (b) verifying that you are the relevant IDT customer if you call Customer Services or otherwise contact IDT (for reasons of security, you will be asked for some of the details you provided during the registration process) (c) informing you of any service related changes affecting your use of IDT products and services; (d) contacting you to ask whether you are interested in using a new IDT offering (e) contacting you to ask whether you would like to attend a research group to help us improve our service to you (f) for crime and fraud detection and prevention (g) collecting any payments due from you

If you are an IDT registered customer or you provide us with personal information in the context of a promotion or competition, we may use the personal information you provide for the purposes of: (a) assessing and developing IDT and related products and services (b) informing you of other IDT products and services, as well as special offers, unless you choose not to receive this information (c) informing you of any products and services offered by other companies that we think may be of interest to you, provided that you choose to receive this information. If you choose to receive information from other companies, we may sometimes disclose your personal information to those companies. We will only do so where those companies have undertaken not to use your personal information for any purpose other than to provide information to you. If you decide that you no longer want to receive information from a particular company, you should contact that company directly. You should be aware that if you subsequently give any personal information to another company, the uses to which that information may be put will be determined by that company's privacy policy. Our policy will no longer apply.

If you are an IDT registered customer, you may, at any time, change your mind about receiving information from IDT or other companies in the future. In connection with the provision of services to you IDT, and any other companies or agencies authorised by us, may carry out credit checks and fraud prevention checks with one or more licensed credit reference and fraud prevention agencies and we may retain a record of the search. Information held about you by such agencies may be linked to records relating to other persons living at the same address and such records will be taken into account in credit checks and fraud prevention checks. Information from your application and payment details of your account will be recorded with one or more of these agencies and may be shared with other organisations to help make credit and insurance decisions about you and members of your household and for debt collection and fraud prevention.

IDT may also share the information which you provide with our affiliates or third parties for administration, data storage or processing purposes.

IDT Financial Services Limited is a subsidiary of IDT Corporation and a part of the IDT Group.  We may disclose your information to other companies in the IDT Group of companies, including their respective partners, agents and sub-contractors, for any of the above purposes. In addition, we may disclose your information as may be required by law, regulation or legal proceedings.

Your information will not be given or sold to any outside organisation for its use in marketing without your consent.

Consent

By registering your details with us, you also consent to our using and/or disclosing your personal information for the following purposes:

• to selected third parties for the purposes of providing and operating our services; and 
• providing or arranging for third parties to provide customer care/help desk facilities (which may involve disclosing your information to third parties solely for those purposes).

Your personal information may be transferred to other companies in the IDT Group of  companies or 3rd parties located outside the EEA in countries which do not have the same standards of protection for personal data as the UK. By registering your details with us, you agree to such transfer and use of your personal data.  IDT will at all times ensure that IDT Corporation and IDT Group companies and any 3rd parties to whom your data is transferred have committed that they will comply with the IDT Financial Services Limited data protection requirements.

Use of cookies

A "cookie" is a piece of information, like a tag, which some web sites create on your PC which identifies your PC whenever you visit that web site. In order to provide you with the best possible online experience, IDT may create cookies when you visit the IDT site. Cookies may be used to help you in the following ways: to limit the frequency with which you will see particular advertisements or IDT announcements on the site; to identify your defaults if you have set up a customised homepage; to keep track of how many times you do specific things whilst using IDT, to track where you have come from if you were referred to our website; to provide you with self-help information; and to make our email offers more relevant to you by taking into account your response to previous email offers. Our cookies will not be used to analyse your visits to other sites. Agents of IDT, which assist in the serving, and targeting of advertisements, promotions and other marketing messages may use cookies to collect anonymous data. Data collected by cookies will not otherwise be passed to any third party. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most PCs automatically accept them but you can modify your browser settings to decline if you so wish. If you decline cookies, some aspects of the IDT site may not work on your PC. For this reason we recommend that you accept cookies.

Updating & amending your personal information

As an IDT registered customer, you have control over the accuracy of your personal information. If, at any time, you wish to verify, update or amend the personal information you have provided to IDT, you can do so online by clicking on 'Edit My Details' in the 'Account Information' area.

Third party sites

Our privacy policy does not apply to third party sites that you may access from the IDT site. You should therefore ensure that you are familiar with the applicable privacy policy before entering any personal information on a third party site.

Security of your Personal Information

IDT secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. IDT secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other Web sites through the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted protection.

Children On The Web

IDT does not specifically collect information about children and we believe that children should get their parents' consent before giving out any personal information. We encourage you to participate in your child's exploration of the Internet.  IDT also recommends that parents use Web filtering technology to supervise their children’s access to the Web.

Changes to Privacy Policy
